A consolidated application for Full Scoping & Environmental Impact Assessment relating to the Solar PV Facilities will be submitted to the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) as the competent authority for decision making.
A consolidated application for a Basic Assessment relating to the Grid Connection Infrastructure and Major Transmission Substation will be submitted to the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), Free State Province as the Provincial competent authority for decision making.
The proposed Vanderkloof Solar PV and Grid Connection entails the following:
- Four (4) x 250MW Solar PV Developments with associated infrastructure including a Battery Energy Storage System.
- One (1) x 1000MW Solar PV Development with associated infrastructure including a Battery Energy Storage System.
- Five (5) x Solar PV Grid Connections with associated infrastructure (overhead powerlines to the new proposed Major Transmission Substation).
- One (1) x Major Transmission Substation and Loop In Loop Out Connections to facilitate the connection of the proposed Solar PV 1 – 5 projects to the National Grid.
The proposed development sites located south of Luckhoff, include Remainder of Farm 113, Farm 39, Remainder of Farm 253, Remainder of Farm 634, Farm 654, Remainder of Farm 1132 and Portion 1 of Farm 1132 (Letsemeng Local Municipality, Free State Province).
