An application for a Full Scoping & Environmental Impact Assessment relating to the Bakleiplaas Solar PV Facility and associated Grid Connection Infrastructure will be submitted to the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) as the competent authority for decision making.
It is the intention of the proponent, Scatec Africa (Pty) Ltd, to construct a Solar PV Facility along with the necessary grid connection infrastructure, connecting the proposed Solar PV Facility to the national grid via the existing Juno Main Transmission Substation near Vredendal in the West Coast (Matzikama Local Municipality, Western Cape Province).
The proposed development site is located approximately 10km north-west of Vredendal and is accessible via the R362.
The Solar PV Facility and Grid Connection will be constructed on Remainder of Farm 277, Remainder of Portion 2 of Farm 278, Remainder of Portion 118 of Farm 282 and Portion 28 of Farm 277.
